The Art of Hope & Fear

Amidst all the recent Daggerheart announcements was the art. Stunning, daring, exciting illustrations bringing to life new Ancestries, Communities, Transformations, Classes, the Dread Domain, and Campaign Frames.

The Art of Hope & Fear

Role-playing thrives on the theatre of the mind. Improvisation, voices, whole worlds spun out of nothing but words. But the secret scaffolding is art. Whether it’s on a GM screen, within the pages of the rulebook, spread across cards, or flickering on a VTT, we rely on the talents of illustrators for the visual vocabulary to unify our universes and spin our spells.

Certainly Darrington Press does. The work they showcased this weekend at PAXU was some of the finest the trade has to offer, and they were as gobsmacked and giddy as you and me as banger after banger slid across the screen to support their many announcements. Drenched in purples and spun with silver and gold, the images are outrageously dramatic, luscious, and alive.

I’ve added some links to the various announcements and streams in the footer. But otherwise, this post is just art. Enjoy. (And click to enlarge.)
